MSG Comic Strip

Well, here is a comic I had thought up a while ago (like in '07) and did a strip for it. It's about a trio of buddies (Sam, Max, and Roger) who go to bars after completing various martial art tournaments. They're not very good at it, but hey, it's a living for these guys. They get into some interesting situations at the bars, mostly Rogers infatuation with Asian females.

The comic is titled MSG and my initial plan was to do a bi-weekly strip for this, but I've only done 2 so far! The first was my initial strip and the second just got done recently this year. It only took like 2 years between the two :-P Really though, between the interning full time, working full time, doing freelance, and what not I was pretty busy for that period. Now I'm on my down time and I figured I start rolling with the MSG comic. Next time hopefully it won't take so long. Might have to make it with less panels a la newspapers. I've posted up my 1st strip also underneath the newer version, so you can see my how my style of drawing has changed. Enjoy!

Little Marissa

This is little miss Marissa, a character I created for a hypothetical show. She is just your average girl that likess bunnies, making funny faces in the mirror, and bubble gum music (more Cyndi Lauper than Britney Spears).

Manga Minutes Rogue designs!!!

I had the honor of doing the 1st season of a bi-weekly web show called Manga Minutes for the website Manga.com. Basically its a 2 minute show hosted by two animated characters (which I designed and animated) that reviews things from anime, games, and manga. One of the host is named Rogue, who is a big fan of video games (especially the fighting variety) and is into vinyl figures, cartoons, and the female persuasion :-D People say I added liberties of adding a sprinkle of my own personality to this character, but won't admit it. LOL Anyways, here are some designs, from concept artwork to the man himself, Rogue!

Love-chan the oh so sexy character designs

This was actually a character redesign of a clients existing character which they thought of as their mascot. They gave me what they wanted her to look like and her traits, i.e sexy, space cadet, anime influenced and so forth. After a few iterations, I finally nailed the look of what I thought the client would like and the client agreed. Here is Love-chan, the oh so sexy space cadet!!!

Character Designs of furry fighters pt 2!!!

Next set of designs is of a koala named Kuso that practices the art of shotokan karate. As you can see on some of the poses, he bears some resemblence to another famous shotokan fighter from a particular game where you fight on the streets. Yeah, that's actually where I got some of my inspiration from. Any who, hope you enjoy and feel free to comment!

Character Designs of furry fighters!

These are my character designs I did based on furry creatures that I think are gosh darn cute, but who could also be lethal. Now the first design is a little panda named Chi, that has Bruce Lee as his inspiration, who is just bad a$$ and practices jeet kune do. Not only that, he dabbles in winery refreshments and sometimes will initiate his awesome drunken kung fu. Now I know kung fu panda came out not too long ago with a panada as the main protagonist, but I had thought of my Chi character before I even knew of Po. Plus, Chi is way cooler than PO, so.....there :-P

Guess what? More storyboards!!! The top 3 are samples of storyboards for a dvd called Adventures in Voice Acting Vol.1. The DVD was a documentary pertaining to voice acting and there would be a 30 second animated sequence between each episode. The shorts contained a character named Mr MIC (who happens to actually be a microphone) that was put into different situations, but prevailed at the end. These are actually sequences that never got used due to time, so I thought why not share it here! You can check out the shorts that made it on my website: artofbk.com

The bottom 2 portion (done in blue pencil) are storyboards that were from my own personal project. This was of two characters duking it out. The protagonist was called "Da Wonder" while the antagonist was called "Da Villain."

Here are more storyboards! This is was a concept trailer for ninjas that happened to be zombies also. I was psyched when the client explained the concept and so I worked on some storyboards for it. Unfortunately it didn't get pushed further by the client. Oh well....

Breaking the Ice with storyboards!!!

Well since all my cool fellow artists blog, I figured why the heck not. Anywho, to break the ice for this blog I've decided to post some storyboards that I've done for various clients and/or myself. They were all done via alias sketchbook pro (I program I recommend) with its storyboard template. The template made it just easier for me to place my storyboards and convenient to place the description of the scenes. This particular one posted above was a potential commercial for advertising a clients web store, but funding wasn't there or wasn't in the cards. But, I figured I'd show it so I hope you guys enjoy and feel free to comment!!!!
